Think Positively

The words you use influence the way you feel. How often do you reply ‘Not bad,’ when people ask how you are? That’s two negatives right there. Try saying, ‘Really good,’ and see what a difference it makes.

Think about how you would like to be with your children (not what you don't want to do) and put your resolutions into positive language. After all, you're not losing anything or giving anything up - you are taking action to change things for the better and the more positive attention you can give your children the happier you will all be.

This year...
I will listen more, without interrupting, criticising or advising.
I will notice and praise all the little things my children do well.
I will tell my children I love them every night.
I will give them more choices.
I will turn off my phone and give them my full attention when I’m with them.
I will get down to their level when I talk to them.
I will tell them how I value their individual qualities.
I will tell them how I am feeling.
I will give them more responsibilities.
I will let them ‘accidentally’ overhear me boasting about them to other people.
I will remember how it felt to be their age.

These are just some suggestions - I’m sure you can come up with lots more of your own. If there is something you would like to discuss email me at dorothy.boswell@blueyonder.co.uk for a free, 10-minute consultation.
