Parenting Classes, Workshops, Courses and Coaching

Being a parent is the most important job you will ever do. Most of us muddle through, too busy thinking about the next feed, nappy change, lunch box, school run, football match, exam, whatever… to take the time to think about what is really important to us and our children.

We often put more time and energy into planning the family holiday than thinking about what we really want from our family life.

Parents are under a lot of pressure nowadays. It sometimes feels as if we are being held responsible for everything that is wrong with our society, from binge drinking and truancy to teenage pregnancy, knife crime and suicide.

Working parents juggle work, children and home, trying to achieve a work-life balance.

Children and teenagers have to cope with more testing than ever before at school, while coping with the distractions of mobile phones, MSN, chat rooms, beebo, myspace, facebook and Grand Theft Auto.

Is it any wonder that we sometimes find it hard to get along?

Parenting Classes and Parent Coaching will help you to…

  • start communicating and stop shouting
  • encourage co-operation in your family
  • listen to your children and help them to listen to you
  • set and keep boundaries (and know when to move them)
  • negotiate solutions that keep everyone happy
  • encourage independence in your children
  • understand your child’s behaviour
  • build your child’s confidence
  • help your children learn
  • take care of your own needs without feeling guilty
  • handle toddler tantrums
  • build a good relationship with your teenagers
  • support your children though separation and divorce

Happier
‘The parenting course helped me to change myself. Before, I got angry very quickly and didn’t listen to my children. Now I have calmed down, I have more patience and I communicate better. My children are happier, more confident and closer to me.’
Aisha, teaching assistant and mother of four

Better
‘I’m getting on so much better with my daughter now, I really can’t believe the change. I realised that when she was talking on the phone all the time it was my problem, not hers; by telling her how I felt, instead of nagging all the time, we were able find a compromise together that really works for everyone.’
Sarah, mother of teenaged daughter

Easier
‘I found it really helpful to see things from my daughter’s perspective. Dorothy helped me to understand that the teenage years are just a natural process that our children have to go through in order to become adults, once you realise that it’s much easier to give them the support they need.’
Jenny, mother of three teenagers
